The Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) in partnership with International Finance Corporation (IFC) hosted the CEO roundtable on 8th August 2023, at Radisson Blu, Hotel Nairobi, to engage top-level leadership in Kenya’s private sector to scale up the reduction of gender gaps for businesses across leadership and employment. 

The meeting provided an opportunity to introduce the Kenya2Equal Project which aims at bringing together private sector companies, to share knowledge and best practice among peers, to learn from industry stakeholders and partners, and to make measurable commitments to close the gender gaps limiting their operations.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Jaqueline Mugo, Executive Director and CEO Federation of Kenya Employers, urged the top industry captains who attended the meeting to apply gender-smart solutions in business operations to sustain business continuity, improve bottom lines, and enhance brand appeal and visibility. “Applying gender smart solutions is a “win” for all. The equal involvement of women in the workplace contributes to meaningful returns on investment. The business case for gender equality has never been stronger!” She said.

Ms. Mugo outlined some of the benefits of applying gender inclusion which include: improved performance at the workplace, increased innovation, better workforce retention and recruitment, diverse perspectives, enhanced organizational reputation and improved employee satisfaction among others.

FKE through initiatives like the Female Future Leadership Program and the FKE Girls & Technology project, has shown great commitment to supporting strengthening gender equality in the workplace, improve women’s representation in management and control,  Encouraging girls and young women to pursue STEM education, as well as draw more women to the top echelon of the private and public sectors as part of the efforts to ensure sufficient qualified woman power in all organizations and leadership positions.

The Federation of Kenya Employers wishes to invite current and aspiring Women Leaders, Women sitting on Boards and Executives to the Female Future Leadership Program (Cohort 19 – January 2024 Intake).
