We refer to the many requests from employers seeking clarity in the structure and number of public holidays during the Christmas season. According to the Public Holidays Act (cap 110) of the Laws of Kenya, the following are the recognized official public holidays during this Christmas season:

  1. Sunday 25th December 2016: Christmas Day
  2. Monday 26th December 2016: Boxing Day

Please be advised that any other day may only be declared a public holiday through an official gazette notice issued by the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government.

Please refer to the official communication that we sent out on Friday 16th December 2016 in response to many enquiries.

Kindly disregard any communication indicating otherwise.
