The Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) hosted a delegation from the Federation of Cameroon Employers, accompanied by officials from Kenya’s Ministry of Education, for a benchmarking meeting on Dual Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Dual TVET, advocated by FKE, is a training model that combines classroom learning with structured workplace immersion, helping bridge the gap between theory and practice and addressing the skills mismatches prevalent in various industries.
During this meeting, FKE shared strategies for implementing the project, focusing on how they engaged employers and the effective structures they established. They highlighted several key events that facilitated this implementation, including:
- The Dual TVET HR Sensitization Forum, which aimed to educate HR professionals and employers about the importance of the Dual TVET program.
- The Coastal Employers Engagement Forum, which brought together industry representatives, training institutions, government agencies, and development partners under the theme "Bridging Skills, Empowering Futures."
- The Skills Needs Survey Report published by FKE in November 2023, which provided vital insights for the Dual TVET initiative by identifying in-demand skills and highlighting the skills mismatch in the country.
