On the 23rd of September, the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) hosted Ms. Hannah, a trainer for the #IamRemarkable movement, for an insightful session with FKE staff.
The interactive session—featuring both guided discussions and group activities—focused on the importance of recognizing and sharing one’s achievements. Ms. Hannah explored why many people hesitate to talk about their accomplishments, highlighting common reasons such as comparison or fear of sounding boastful. She clarified that bragging and sharing achievements are not the same, noting that accomplishments are facts that deserve to be acknowledged but they do not speak for themselves.
Among the key takeaways was the understanding that self-promotion not only motivates the individual but also inspires those around them.
Ms. Hannah also underscored the importance of creating a workplace culture where people feel safe to celebrate their achievements—an approach that fosters creativity, innovation, and psychological safety.
To conclude the session, participants engaged in reflective exercises where they wrote down why they believe they are remarkable, shared their reflections with colleagues, and later presented one thing they most appreciate about themselves to the entire team.
This impactful session was made possible courtesy of Ms. Jacqueline Mugo, FKE Executive Director and CEO, and Ms. Grace Kaome, Head of HR & Administration and Female Future Leadership Programme Coordinator.
